Here is just a little about the breeds we raise here at Willow Springs Rabbitry.
Holland Lops
Holland Lops are very popular in the show industry. As Willow Springs Rabbitry is a member of the American Rabbit Breeders Association (ARBA). We strive to meet the Standard of Perfection with all our rabbits. Holland Lops have a very compact size with short dense fur that comes in a variety of colors. Holland Lops are to have a roll back coat, meaning when the fur is stroked from the hindquarter to the shoulders the fur should roll back slowly. Holland Lops weigh between 3 and 4 pounds. They are known for their short, cobby bodies, round head, massive appearance and variety of color.
New Zealand
New Zealands are the number one and most common meat rabbit. The ideal type for a New Zealand should create an impression of balance and uniformity in the mind. They are to have well rounded hips, well filled loin, and ribs carrying forward to combine with shoulders that balance with the rest of the body. The shoulders should blend smoothly into the midsection, and the midsection should blend smoothly into the hindquarters. When viewed from the side, the top body-line should start immediately at the base of the ears and rise in a continuous curve to the high point over the center of the hips and then fall in a smooth curve downward to the base of the tail. When viewed form above, the sides should taper slightly from the hindquarters toward the shoulders. New Zealands come in 5 varieties, white being the most common, black, red, blue and broken. Broken consist of broken blacks, broken reds and broken blues.
